An indirect hot water heater can be added to any boiler to produce hot water for showering and dish washing. This is the most efficient use of your boiler because you are utilizing the heat already produced and stored in the boilers water. The indirect hot water tank is a very well insulated storage tank that circulates the boilers hot water through it as it needs it to warm up your water for domestic use. We install the Peerless partner indirect hot water heater. You will not run out of hot water and it has a limited lifetime warranty making it the last hot water heater you may ever buy.

Tankless Coil

A tankless coil may be incorporated into a boiler’s design. This is an older means of heating hot water. It is less efficient than an indirect hot water heater but it cost less to install initially. The supply of hot water is not endless because there isn’t a storage tank.

Oil Fired Hot Water Heater

A standard oil fired hot water heater with an oil burner is another way that hot water may be produced using heating oil. This is generally an option if a boiler is not available to be used. An oil fired hot water heater is advantageous if large amounts of hot water need to be produced quickly and constantly. For most residential applications an indirect hot water heater or tankless coil is more cost effective and appropriate.

Historically, steam was popular in older farm homes and is not used in new construction. If you are in need of a replacement boiler for your steam system, we will gladly install a Peerless steam boiler that will keep you warm for years and years to come.

In floor radiant heat and standard baseboard are what C.E. Kiff primarily installs. A boiler may be installed as a stand alone heating unit or it can be better utilized as the home’s heating unit and the source for domestic hot water for showers and dish washing. The versatility of today’s hot water system is unlimited. We can even install towel warmers to keep your towels warm while they wait outside your steamy oil heated shower. And remember with an oil heated home you won’t ever have cold feet – thanks to in floor radiant heat.

Oil heat boilers have incorporated many advancements to continue to make them as efficient as possible. Zoning a heating system is one way that C.E. Kiff installs boilers. Zoning only sends heat to the necessary room(s) when the thermostat signals that it needs it rather than heating all of the house only if the bathroom needs it. The Biasi boiler is a triple pass boiler instead of a single pass boiler. A triple pass boiler has three times the surface area to absorb the heat from the oil before putting it up the chimney as opposed to a single pass boiler where the heat went through the boiler one time and then most of your heat went up the chimney and out of the house. The triple pass boiler can also be setup to shut off when there isn’t a heat call or hot water need and save you on your fuel bill during the summer months significantly. A Biasi boiler can save you up to 30% on your annual fuel consumption.

The hot water boiler itself is quite simple. The oil burner burns the heating oil and produces 140,000 BTU’s (Compared to only 90,000 BTU’s from propane) as the heat passes through the boiler the water absorbs the heat and then is pumped throughout the home via the circulate pump.
